Bags are Packed for the 1st World Street Food Congress(May 31-June 9, 2013) in Singapore with Sabina Badera in Tow--Go Team Mexico!
World Street Food Congress 2013, Singapore
When the first annual World Street Food Congress decided to recruit one of the best street food carts in the galaxy, they enlisted council member Bryant Ng of L.A.'s Spice Table to make it happen, so I got the call. The Singapore based Makansutra organization is going to be featuring Sabina Bandera and her daughter Mariana Oviedo at the congress, which is designed to promote the most inspired cuisine on the planet--street food.
I'm being sponsored by the congress for bringing Ensenada's La Guerrerense to Singapore, where I will also participate in a live interview in front of a studio audience with Chef Bryant Ng.

World Street Food Congress council members, Anthony Bourdain(L), and James Oseland(Center)
The congress will function as a think tank of the leading street food industry leaders and champions of ambulatory dining like CNN's Anthony Bourdain, and Saveur Magazine's James Oseland. Street food is the most common experience shared by the largest group of people on the planet--the lower classes.
Some of the issues to be tackled at the WSFG will be how to educate more vendors about food safety practices, and how to encourage small businesses in the arena of street food entrepreneurship.
If you can make it out to Singapore, you'll be able to catch me at the hawker stalls, and at La Guerrerense's booth where they will be introducing Singaporeans to Ensenada style street gourmet. See you in Singapore!

Having a California Burrito with the homie
The pilot for Andrew Zimmern's new show, The Border Check, will air tomorrow night at 5P.M. on the Travel Channel. I wrangled a few locations for the show, namely Tacos Kokopelli (Tijuana), Cocina de Doña Esthela (Valle de Guadalupe), and Don Tommy's in San Diego.
Border Check, produced by Zero Point Zero Productions, will examine border cultures all over the world and their unique social-political, commercial, and cultural relationship. Besides our friends in Baja, O.C. Weekly editor and chingon-in-residence, Gustavo Arellano, will also be featured in this San Diego to Baja episode, which covers from San Diego to the Valle de Guadalupe, Mexico's wine country.
This is my third appearance on the Travel Channel with Andrew Zimmern (Bizarre Foods Baja, Bizarre Foods San Diego, Border Check)
I will join Andrew at Don Tommy's to weigh in on the California Burrito--what a better way to celebrate Cinco de Mayo! Tune in.
